Danielle is a young golfer who is part of golf’s youth forum. She was invited to attend the How Safe is Your Sport? conference, at which the CPSU led a session asking young people to describe what sport has done to keep them safe. Danielle described the work she does within golf and gave her feedback on the conference.

University of Birmingham Sport ‘Golf Volunteerz’ have been named the winner of Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR) University Sports Club of the Year (SCOTY) award 2010, supported by runningsports, which recognises sports clubs that have made an outstanding contribution within their community.
The real challenge with engaging young volunteers from schools is to deploy this ready, willing and able young workforce into the golf club enviroment. Currently, there are pockets of good practice – at Tapton Park GC in Derbyshire, for example, (case study attached), Eccleston Park Golf Club in St Helens and North Wiltshire Golf Club.
